Over this past Columbus Day Weekend, we camped at a State Park in Western, NY. All of the sites that were large enough to accommodate our trailer, were listed as having a "slight Grade". This turned out to be an understatement! We were not able to fully level our trailer front to back. We were able to level our camper side to side with our Anderson levelers but this raised one side of the camper nearly 4 inches to get to level. Our trailer is outfitted with a Propride P3 hitch which sits below the frame as seen in the picture and my crude drawing to show its placement. Because of this, we couldn't lower the front of the camper as much as we would have been able to with a conventional hitch. With the jack as far down as we could go, we were still high in the front. My drawing is somewhat exaggerated but wanted to make sure those reading this fully understands what we experienced. I don't know what else we could have done to get our camper level. Any ideas would be appreciated as we have booked a 4 night stay at this same State Park next summer (different site but also lists it as having a "slight Grade"). Thanks!

rk911, I think our issue is more that the Propride hitch mounts under the frame so I lose space to lower the front of the camper as far as I could otherwise. If I had a conventional hitch, I would have gotten my camper level. I think posting a review of the campground, which was otherwise awesome, and stating I wasn't able to get my camper level wouldn't be a fair assessment for anyone with a conventional hitch setup.

Nice graphic! :)I've been to sites like that, but not where I couldn't level it.. The tongue was so low, I had to use a single 2x board for the jack. I normally use 2 4x boards stacked on top of each other!About the only thing you could do is put enough boards under both sets of tires to get the thing up in the air higher so there is more room for the tongue to go lower.. Not very practical I know, but sites that are built to hold an RV "should" be made as level as possible when the pad is laid! ;)Anyway, good luck next time!Mitch

Thats my game plan next time gijoecam. Over the winter I'm going to make some ramps from boards so I don't have this problem again

Having a low profile trailer, we have run into this issue several times. What seems like a 'slight' grade to a conventional trailer can be a 'sliding off the bed' grade for us. I've had the spare tire (mounted under the tongue) 1/4" off the ground, and I've also had the tail of the trailer almost dragging as well. Managed to get it level both times, but it was close!!

To the OP, I would have either dug some clearance for the coupler, or driven the trailer wheels up onto some more boards.

I had that happen on a 12 foot popup/18.3ft total length. It was a state park and I got a refund for the weekend.

A sloped situation with a long TT like the OP described is why I added a tool box on the rear bumper of the TT and packed it full of stackers and chocks. I think I have 3 cases of stackers on board now and some chunks of 2x6 in the front storage compartment as well as an extra folding step.

Good idea to bring a step stool....I had to borrow the cinder blocks in this pic from the CG.

Looks like the cinder blocks worked for you under the stabilizers.

For others contemplating cinder blocks it's best not to lay them on their side. They are less apt to break if set upright (holes looking from top to bottom). I'd never use loose stacked cinder block under a tongue jack either. BurbMan is using proper cribbing in his picture above.

I have never used the Anderson levelers, but I guess they could be used on a board. So if you put 2 2x8's on each side that would give you 3" of height, then use the Anderson under one side to to level side to side....I guess.

I don't see any reason the Anderson Levelers can't be put on boards to get some extra height. They really aren't the issue here.

I don't see a solution if you want to use the Anderson levelers. Since you know what you will be up against I would take the appropriate blocks to raise the tires and give you the needed lift. Then comes the problem if your door is in the rear as pictured, your steps will be sky high. With these kind of sites there is always a trade off, especially for those of us who do have rear doors.
