- fla-gypsyExplorerJacksonville Florida is not California or New York. The Prevost sold for more than $300k. The real bargain was the Ford Excursion which sold for $3500.
- wintersunExplorer III would not aide and abet the criminal conduct of the Jacksonville sheriff department or any other. The law is such that property is seized with the assumption that the individual is guilty and no warrant is needed or other outside review. The proceeds go the department and to the deputies so they have an incentive to grab people's property as they get the used of the property or can sell it at auction and this money goes into the department's slush fund.
This was commonplace in California and the officers were raking in more than $688 million each year until new regulations went into effect and put a stop to this thievery by the officers.
This article in the New Yorker covers how the cops steal from motorists:

It is also why there are states where I would never take my RV as the police officers are out of control and proud of it. - subcamperExplorer II

Nice! But it is now 10 years old. It is not allowed in some resorts!!!
There is nothing wrong with a 10 year old rig and if the price is right, its really a good deal, it might be cheap enough to get new tires, and have a qualified mechanic go through it and you'll have a new rig for a minimum price. You could have it detailed while your at it. LOl
The Resorts that don't allow rigs over 10 years just use that as a reason not to let trashy RVs in, and you might not want to use their parking lot sites anyway.
Another good deal is to buy repos. We bought a really fine 2005 5th wheel for under $5000 and it needed a new hot water heater, and some major cleaning. It looks brand new.
Says minimum bid $175k. Not sure how good a deal this is.
It's an auction, dealers will bid it up to wholesale value, some idiot who thinks it's a bargain merely because it's in an auction will bid it higher still.
X2
I stopped going to auctions in general because too many people lose their logical thinking and drive prices way higher than the product is worth. They want it and they will bid up to whatever it takes to "beat the other guy".

Why is the "over ten years" old always brought up?
Because the poster is uninformed -or-
maybe an RV salesperson!..:R
.
Or maybe it was posted as tongue in cheek because it`s a Prevost! does anyone really think I was serious about the 10 year rule and a Prevost? at 10 years old that MH is still worth around $400k!
No problem, tongue in cheek came across loud and clear. Amazes me how some can take everything so literal. I guess it's more important to be right in a virtual world, then having common sense in the real world. - accsysExplorer

even the snooty resorts will allow an older provost
Almost all "provosts" are older as it takes several years of education and a lot of experience before they can become a Provost of a college. - MotorProExplorer

Yes, there are some RV parks that have so much business they do not need mine, or anyone who's rig is over 10 years old (mine is not, yet 10 years old)
