Lackofsleepin hospital

Hi, all. I'm trying to recover from a devastating stroke I had about a month ago.and haven't had a decent night's sleep dusting that time. They do give me a sleeping pill but I still get exhausted during the day ,especially during therapy.imthinking of trying ear plugs but know from experienceimnottoo comfortable wearing them.im attempting to get into a private room, Erich should help.but I have an acute sense of hearing and there are all kinds of noise in these institutions, such as traffic in the hallway,ACunits kicking on, etc.sorry about the sloppy typing but I only able to use my right had and at the angle my iPad is not ideal. Just had to vent a bit.
  • Wishing you the very best in your recovery!!! I, too, recommend a fan.....the radio may be MORE of a problem.....the music/talk shows can be stimulating...and keep you awake. The fans have a steady noise -- called white noise. And as other said, talk to your doctor or the physical therapist. Ear plugs may be a problem to insert in the left ear......especially if you don't have use of your left hand.

And don't worry so much about your typing....I think you're doing amazing considering what you've gone thru!

I'm sorry about the stroke but thank goodness you're able to communicate and your thought processes weren't affected. Since you have a roomie, could you use the small ear buds to connect to a white noise machine?

congrats on your recovery. I'm careful with caffeine because I also have occasional a fib with the heart.

Have you talked to your doctor about this? is a white noise unit a possibility
Also are you in a hospital or a rehab center?
rehab enter right now.at home I run a small heater on fan only for some backgrounds noise.don't know if. Can implement that strategy here since I have a room mate. If I get a private room perhaps so can do that I also considered using a small radio tuned to. A Stacy area on the dial again, apologies for my typing can't be helped.

  • Ear plugs work for high pitched noise, but not for the lows like the clunks and foot falls. Best bet would be to get a fan as they mask a lot of noises. Think of it as having your Fantastic Fan on in the middle of a truckstop for the night, and you will wake up next to the lake with the rising sun and the ducks quacking.

And good for you for getting on here and just keeping touch with us all. Heal well.
