Lazy days in Florida

Does anyone know if the lazy days sales and service center in Tampa, Florida is a reputable dealer? I read some bad reviews and don't know if I should judge them on that. Several said their service department was terrible.

I'm thinking about buying a motorhome from them and would like to know other peoples experience with them. Thanx

  • If you are comparison shopping, RV World in Lakeland is not too far up the road, right off of I-4 on Rt 98. We had a good experience with them. David Therault was an excellent salesman.
  • I will forever hate Lazydays.

The were the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with as far as there service center is concerned.

I have never been treated so poorly and vowed that I would never ever ever ever deal with them again.

And judging by the others in the very nice and expensive waiting room at the service center I was not alone.
  • They will put your unit on a site for a couple days and you can live in it to find problems. They will assign you a tech to fix any problems. That said, getting the tech to show up to do the repair is another story. The one they gave me was on vacation, or so they said. Guess they do not know who is on vacation.
  • We have bought two motorhomes there and wouldn't go anywhere else.

Three years ago we bought a used Monaco mh. They went over it with a fine tooth comb and fixed everything they could find. We ended up with new tires, batteries, slide topper, slide gaskets, toilet. Mike Ballard was our service tech (ask him if you buy one). He checked everything out and found things we would never have found on our own (or not for a while)

When you buy, you have 30 days guarantee. If you are on the road and find a problem, and can't get back to Lazy Days before the 30 days are up, you can call them, make note of the problem and they will fix it for you (under the 30 day warranty) when you can get back. Not that kind of service for many dealers.

If you buy one, do not be in a big hurry to leave their lot. The clock on the 30 day warranty doesn't start ticking until you drive off the lot. We traded one end, so they set us up in the change over area. We kept finding little things that needed fixing, so they kept fixing them. We ended up being there a good while, but it was lucky because the refrigerator chose that time to fail and we got a new 4 door Norcold refirgerator, which was about a $5000 refrigerator.

I can't say enough good about them, however some friends of ours bought an almost new Monaco and ended up being in their "Crown Club" It's where the high dollar rigs are taken care of. They got terrible service. I think it all depends on the technician that is in charge of going over that particular rig. As I said before, ask for Mike Ballard! He was great. Tell him Al and Karen Lueck sent ya!
  • They are fine. Just schedule your unit at the early part of the month for pick up / PDI. They tend to cram a lot of sales towards the end of the month and that can cause service to drag a bit as they are over worked then and not so much at the start of the month.

Kieu Hieu is an amazing sales rep. If you don't have one I'd recommend talking to her. She is amazing.

Overall they are good to work with. Just realize if you go towards the end of the month things tend to get a little crazy and if they say 2 days plan on it taking 3.
  • I really like the sales experience I had there. Bought a truck camper earlier this year. Was very pleased with the sales and negotiation process. A very high quality sales force.

Service I found to be a different experience. Staff and techs were very professional, courteous and helpful. But somehow the service system seemed out of control, uncoordinated, too bureaucratic, and not functioning well. Installation of truck modifications when I bought it took about 4 hours longer than had been advised (should have been about a 3 hour job max) Techs seemed to be poorly managed and almost like they could (or would) not remain focused on the job.

Had another experience there a few weeks ago. Needed about 20 minutes of assessment and repair of cabinet latches and had it scheduled with a previously arranged appointment. After 4 hours of waiting and extensive paperwork (go figure) they decided they didn't have the parts and would mail them shipped to me. When I got the parts at home I had them totally installed in 15 minutes by myself.

I will probably use them again for repairs if absolutely essential (i.e warranty work) but not for anything else after warranty. If I shop for an RV again I will definitely shop them as that was a great experience from a purchasing view point.
  • I purchased my fifth wheel from them. All of the negotiations were done over the phone with the usual haggling but happy with the experience. The mechanic that did the PDI did a great job. They have a transfer lot for you to load the new rv from your old rv. Give you time to try out everything and any item that you find needing attention will be taken care of right away since you are still on their property. Just my experience.
