True. I guess what I meant was I've never seen anyone maneuver a TT with one. Seems like it would be more difficult than backing, because of the visibility issue.

I've only ever seen front hitches used for launching boats.

I've had front receivers on my last 2 trucks and am adding one to the new 2017 Silverado I got 3 weeks ago.

All the front hitches are rated for a weight of 500 lb. The tongue on your trailer is likely well over that.

The front hitch does make it very easy to quickly wiggle a trailer around. This would be true even if you can't see but have a good spotter.

However - your call.

My truck has one in the front and two offset in the rear. Never used them for my current setup but can see they might be usefull.

If it's not overly costly or overloads your front suspension i say give it a shot!

While a front hitch increases the maneuverability, as already mentioned it reduces your ability to see what you are doing. With a front hitch you are 'blind' to what you could see in the truck's mirrors.
Having a front hitch does allow for you to maneuver a trailer much more quickly.

I have to back my shorter trailer into a very similar location, only it's on the other side of the house from the driveway. I have to enter at the driveway, which is only a car length long, and immediately cut across the front lawn, then zig into a near 90 degree turn to back into my spot, all the while avoiding 3 trees. I clear the entry gate by about 8" on each side. When I'm in, I have about 1 foot of clearance between the driver's side and a fence. My trailer is within 3 - 6 inches of the corner of the house roof during the last turn.

I just take my time. Sometimes I end up leaving it part way and taking a beer break.

One thing that does help some is having a backup camera on the trailer. My current truck can't take advantage of that, yet...

I see them from time to time advertised used for sale they can be adapted to work with TT or 5th Wheels.

Another option is a forklift. That's what a lot of the manufacturers and RV dealers use. I've seen many advertised for $3000 to $4000.

One RV'er adapted his ATV to use as a tug to back in his 5th wheel. He had built a frame which put the weight of the 5th wheel hitch near the center of the ATV and still allowed him to ride it. The frame was removal with 4 pins.

Some things to consider:

1. You will not be able to see around the camper and will need at least one spotter

2. Many front receivers are low rated and your front suspension may not support the tongue weight

The second item is something you need inspect more often if you are over operational limits. Check attachment hardware and welds after use and look for front end alignment issues.
