levelers

Has anyone ever put levelers on their RV? Much work?

I guess that depends on the type of RV you're talking about. Installing them on a Class A isn't the same as a Fifth-wheel.

I had the Equalizer hydraulic system added to my 5er but I took it to thier install shop in Elkhart. They do have some authorized installers across the country but none were close and good excuse for a road trip.
I did look at the Lippert & Bullfrog electric systems and you can drill frame & bolt on the brackets. At the time both of these only offered a 4 pt aftermarket unit but Bullfrog was supposedly going to also have a 6 pt . I could have installed any of the systems but the Equalizer labor price was so cheap it was a no brainer.
Now that I have a 6 pt hydraulic system, glad I didn't get the cheaper electric type.
  • I just took my Lippert electric ones off, so yes it would be a bear to intall new ones.

    Guy
  • I installed the Big Foot jacks on my Class C.
Yes. Lots of work. Mounts have to be welded to the frame etc.
  • Had a friend who put a 4-point Lippert system on a Mesa Ridge 5er once.

His comments on the installation process are not repeatable here, but said it was the best thing he ever did.

Unfortunately he passed in 2018, so I can't ask him details about the process.

He looked at my TT, and since my frame is covered by the underbelly material, to start I have to rip that all off to get to find proper mounting points. Also teh frame I-beams might not be tall enough to mouont.

After I got a system installed, I would have to build a new underbelly.

Of course I didn't do that.
  • Much work ?
    Yes ...
Lots of work to install leveling Jack's

Less work to install "self contained" Jack's, that only need electrical wiring run to each jack
Where there is no need to install hydraulic lines, pump etc..
