Leveling side to side method from seasoned campers

Looking for a good/fast/east way to do this. Just looking for tips from all u expereienced folks. There isnt much on youtube. Those andersen levelers look like a great concept but they are pricey and I wonder about durability. The camcos werent appealing to me cuz they have a 3 step method and I wouldnt want my tire to be on a edge point (I know theyre not sharp). If you look at them youll see what i mean. the 2x8 or 2x10 method seems fine except you would need a bunch of different thicknesses to be perfect right? This means either planing to thickness or resawing a bunch of pieces. i have a 13 torque 301 TH fiver so.....

I just noticed these too:

Thanks

  • I also have the Andersen levelers and they are the way to go. you are going to spend all that money trying to find that one great leveling system, you might as well get the Andersen's now and avoid the hassle.
  • We came from the ease of the BAL Leveller from our PUP trailer so the Lynx style blocks didn't much appeal to me. I was looking for a system that was as simple as the BAL Leveller. We ended with the Andersen levellers and we are quite liking them.
  • We FTd for 7 yrs...........set up 5rv every week or so

I'm lazy......I like simple and don't like having to get down on my bad knees

    I carried 2 boards
1 was 2 X 10 X 52 (going form memory----but it would slip in bed of truck side to side just in front of 5rv hitch)----ends where cut at an angle
    1 was 2 X 10 X 48 and ends when cut at an angle

I would pull in/back in to a site where I wanted 5vr........with the large level on pin box I could tell which side was low and by how much.
I would then lay down longest board (or both boards depending on how low) next to tires.........pull rig away to clear end of boards. Slide boards over then park 5vr on top of boards.

IF 2 boards were not enough I would be looking for a different site/ area in site etc.
    2 boards was all I would use.....that's 3"

When braking camp..I'd pull off boards and stow across truck bed in front o hitch.

After 3-4 yrs. Cut couple new ones if old were cracking.
  • ("Look for a bag of "Linxx" plastic squares or the 2x8 is fine. 90% of the time you only need i borard or Linxx on the low side of your trailer. Measure the 2x8 so that the boards are about 4" longer than the width of the tires. Bevel the ends at 45 deg. angle. Make the second 2x8 3 inches shorter than the first one. Be sure and buy wheel chocks that you can adjust to put pressure on the tires. for each side of the trailer. ")

X2....I also carry several lengths of left over Trex decking planks as help in leveling. I have found that their thickness is just right when only slightly off level.
