There is no such thing as a "lifetime" warranty...
My Dad always said the lifetime whatever was good as long as you don't live to long...:-)
  • When I see "Lifetime Warranty" I always wonder who's lifetime?

Mine, the RV, or the dealer.

Many have warranties that are worthless because the company closed doors under one name and reopened under a different name.

I have lifetime warranty on some windows except the company is gone. Same phone number is in use, and there is a window company at the same address but claim they know nothing of the previous company.
  • I got the lifetime warranty when I purchased my new TT in February. I was disappointed (but not surprised) that it didn't cover everything like the salesman said. It covers the major items. I'd have to get the warranty to see exactly what is and is not covered. You have to have the yearly maintenance done at an RV dealer (not necessarily the one you bought the RV at), and you have to send in the piece of paper confirming the yearly maintenance was done, complete with the dealers signature, in order to keep the warranty in effect. There is a list of what has to be done in the yearly maintenance, and the dealer I bought if from estimated that would run $100-$200 a year (things like repacking the bearings, cleaning the refrigerator flue, etc.) There was no mention about having to repair any problems they found, but I'm sure they wouldn't cover them if they weren't repaired.

It is basically a 3rd party warranty, that you have to send yearly documentation to maintain coverage. I didn't buy just because of this, but this was a nice add on (although I'm sure the cost was included in my sales price). We were looking to upgrade after 10 years with our 1st TT. The kids are no longer camping with us, so we no longer needed the bunks and wanted a better layout for our situation.
  • Don't fall for it - please don't fall for it... You will be paying thousands for the "reccommended maintenance".
  • no doubt their recommended/necessary maintenance will be recaulking the entire RV for $800 every year.

  • I would suggest you ask the dealership what is expected. If they are saying that all repairs they suggest are needed have to be repaired by them in my mind is not a lifetime warranty. It sounds like they are saying...any repairs to your RV that are completed by us will be guaranteed. Pretty much like any repair on anything. They are not offering you anything except a sales pitch to have any repairs done by them. Another marketing tactic...suggesting you are getting something for nothing.
  • Think about it for a second.

Lifetime warranty for something on wheels.

Read the small print. If you can get it before you sign anything.

(edit part) I should add more I guess. Last summer at RV show we saw a sign that said Lifetime Warranty.

    Me...I asked about the warranty.

Them......what rv are you interested in?

Me...Might be interested in any rv that has lifetime warranty, let me look at the warranty.

Them...we don't have a copy here at rv show, but basically every year to have to have rv serviced at our dealership and pay for any work we recommend.

ME...I would like to see the contract.

Them.. we don't have copy here at rv show.

Me...OK e-mail me, I'd like to read it.

Them...OK what rv are you interested in?

Me...I'm not interested until I read your lifetime warranty, then we'll see.

Them... I talk to sales manager.

Only e-mail I got was saying they have a rv that I would be interested in.
