Wow. It even looks like an RV. They would have to put a much bigger battery in it and a more robust suspension. But yah. Kinda cool.
Stay healthy Don.- pianotunaNomad IIIHere is yet another electric van that could be turned into an RV:

Well here in North Central Florida I saw my first Tesla yesterday and it belonged to some business. I'm not saying there aren't more just not enough to be noticeable. The company I retired from had a Prius, plastered stem to stern with Electric Test Vehicle, you know to get green brownie points. And the woman who managed the car pool told me it was the absolute last to be checked out. I got stuck with it several times and hated to drive it. That sums up my experience with EVs.
And get to the point, I have seen exactly zero charging stations in this mid sized city of 300,000. I'm sure there are some but not at any gas stations that I've been in.
Charge stations are less commonly found at gas stations in the US all though it is getting more common in Europe and Canada to see Fast chargers at gas stations. Petro Can, Shell, Canadian tire etc.
Don't know where you are in Florida but this may help a bit. I filtered everything out but the Fast chargers although L2 destination chargers are much more common.
Keep in mind that there will never be as many public charge stations as there is gas stations as 95 percent of the charging you do will be at home on your own station...that would look something like this.
- Here is the current problem with most of the Superchargers. The stalls can handle smaller trailers and there are some that can handle up to 25 or 28 foot trailers, but generally speaking there is a lot to be desired on most of the Superchargers for trailer towing. This will be an immediate problem for the Cybertruck and trailer drivers. Its only a half ton so I suspect most of the trailers that will be hauled will be 25 footer or shorter...or maybe boats, buggy haulers etc.

Below is a non Tesla parallel park type setup. There are a few of these popping up in the last year and I noticed some of the new rest stop sites are similar. Takes up more real estate but it works. These are only 100 KW sites. Ugh. OK for a car but a truck would take a while.

This all has some truth. Also available would be specific EV sites where the office could control the power drawn. The charging protocol used by EVs allows this and can be automated for sharing. Already being done to share a limited power circuit.time2roll wrote:
Will not be hard to have an RV Park charging mode that limits power if needed. However unless half the park turns over in the same day with 100% EV MHs I can't imagine there will be an issue. People forget the draw stops when vehicle is charged.
Low voltage on a hot afternoon? EV MH could easily stop charging or drawing ANY power until the issue is resolved after midnight and still get plenty of power to make a continental breakfast. This will enable an EV to actually reduce the issue for all the old MHs that have to draw max power continuous to run the two A/C units during the hot afternoon.
My experience is people use as much power as they can get out of the pedestal.
Unless the owner is going to redo the electrical system and upgrade it, there won't be automated systems to cut or scale back power available at a site.
Since many RV parks already have issues on hot days (not just afternoons), adding substantial additional power draws...even at modest 5-10% of rig levels...will cause substantial additional problems.agesilaus wrote:
Prius is just a hybrid not an EV.

The most used charging station will be at your personal residence.
Charging station at a gas station would be a waste. Most are at some destination area to actually make yourself useful while charging.
Rent a real EV sometime. Very different from a Prius.- Well, Mexico is still a little light but the rest of North America has decent (but still lacking) DC fast charging facilities. Nothing like Europe or Japan or China or , but its getting better. The Alcan should be done in a year or two although the gaps are getting smaller. Sufficient L2 but that is not a great way to travel. And if you are Tesla driver its a good idea (read necessity) to have a Chademo or CCS adapter as CCS/Chademo is still more extensive in that part of the country.
My guess is once the first E-trucks hit the road the various networks will expand even faster. Overall, considering there was almost no DC fast charge facilities 6 or 7 years ago and now there are 10's of thousands.
Mexico is working on two main corridors all the way to Belize. Rumour has it they'll be up within a couple years.

Meh. It’s already happening here. Some of the latest stations here are parallel pull up affairs. Probably good for a truck pulling a 25 to 28 foot trailer. Restaurants and public bathrooms within a 100 meters. Mind you , I noticed these were only 100 kw chargers so if your truck has a big battery and you are on the low side you better have a long er lunch planned. It’ll all evolve as the requirement is there. Businesses like to make money.
I’ve noticed the newer Superchargers taking this into account as well.
Nothing happens overnight. Neither will the transition to EV’s.pianotuna wrote:
There are 3 locations within 200 feet of my Condo that would have plenty of room for an RV. BTW I was talking of motorized RV's (A, B, and C).
In my small city there are already nearly 100 charging locations. At last count 83 of them were "no cost" locations.
The Transcanada highway has charge points within 100 miles along its entire length.
Yawn! Wake me when Onawa, Iowa has them.
