Hate to say it, very bad reviews by Consumer Reports.
But neat car. I might even try one out if I got a good deal.
Personally, I don't have confidence in Consumer Reports. I'm not saying they're wrong about the Fiat. But, I wouldn't buy or not buy something based on their report.
As a researcher by profession, Consumer Reports is one of the ONLY independent testing firms I trust. They go out with ma and pa and pretend to be buyers, not "special" factory-prepped perfect models. They don't allow their name to be used for advertising, and use real-life feedback from subscribers to create reliability records for products. I don't care for some of their "social goals" attitudes, but I don't subscribe for that and just ignore it. - johnlenhardtExplorerI tow my 2012 Fiat 500 Sport with a Blue Ox bar and plate. Extreme easy to tow and no steering wheel lock. I have 70K on the Fiat and it has been the most trouble-free car I have ever owned!
- TripalotExplorerWe tow a Fiat Abarth - the sporty souped up version
It wasn't particularly cheap, but it has all the bells and whistles. It is very easy to connect and tow - has to be standard transmission
We have had ours for a couple of years and so far no problems. Only drawback of the Abarth version is lack of ground clearance due to cowling along the sides. We too noticed several being used as tow vehicles and this prompted us to investigate and buy. - imgoin4itExplorerNeed to select based on use. For example I towed jeeps for many years. They are great to tow. Sure would not want for a daily driver only which is also what I did. The tow ability was the priority. Consumer reports doesn't have much good to say about jeeps or Chrysler either. So is towing is most important go with what tows best.

Last I checked, they weren't too impressed with one of the best toads available, a Jeep Wrangler.

I can see why they would be popular. - LadyRVerExplorer IITowed one for 2 years absolutely the greatest. Nary a problem, towed great and a great little sightseeing toad. 7 airbags in the one I had. Went to a fiver and truck, only reason for trading.
