Save close to $40 today. Won't need fuel for months now.
I don't have any problems with aux tanks, and think they can quite useful. But come on...$40 savings spread over the course of "months"...??
I can use 96 gallons in 2 weeks of my typical driving habits.
Fuel prices are artificially high your area right now. Once the refineries come back online, they'll drop back to where they were. But who knows, in "months" the prices may be lower than what you paid. So in essence, you might have spent more for the privelage of toting around extra fuel over the next few months.
I understand where you are coming from. But, fuel prices never go down as fast as they increase, also the home heating oil business is about to take off which will increase diesel prices. So yes it's a gamble I'm willing to take.
I have two trips planned in the next 4 weeks, about 500 miles of driving total, so yes it will help me save money on these trips. After my last trip in October the truck will be parked until January due to work obligations.
