Mice got in the cover should I replace it?

Went to pull out the cover yesterday and mice have eaten holes in it. I have always had a cover on it the past 2 winters. Should I get another one. Do you guys cover yours? If you don't how are your stickers? If you do how do you prevent damage on the roof from the cover. I noticed wearing on the edges.

Mice have urinated and defficated on the cover, and that odor well attract more mice. If you use the cover clean it with a 50% solution of Pine-sol, & water let it dry thoroughly.

The Pine-sol is a good idea. Hantavirus and other rodent-carried diseases are no laughing matter.

Of course, the best solution is a carport, because covered storage is always useful.

  • For many previous posts search this Forum for `rv cover'. Yes we do whenever not camping.
  • I never have used a cover. After 9 years no damage that I can see. I've never seen dealers covering their unsold stock.
  • I use bubble wrap on all the corners and edges. It has lasted me 5 years! Just this last winter it wore the edges pretty thin! I keep mine in the storage bag it came with and i hang it from a bicycle hook in the garage in the summer.
  • Where do you store the cover? I bought a big plastic garbage can for mine. When uncovering, I just pull it up from the top, fold it over twoard the middle a few times, then get down and pull it into the garbage can folding like an accordian. This puts the front on the top of the can and when ready to cover, I just pull it out and over the top. No mice can get in the tightly covered can. And yes, if your cover is a loss, by all means, get a new one and cover the sharp edges.
  • I used to cover mine each winter. When I did I used pieces of foam on all the corners to keep the cover from wearing on the edges. Even though ours was a custom cover and not a universal cover it always seemed to wear some on all the corners. I now have a large shelter that it stays under.

Unless the holes in your cover are large you can probably repair it enough for this year.
  • I cover our Southwind. I have not had any damage from the cover rubbing the paint/decals. We get a lot of winter wind in our area.
When my current one fails, I will buy another cover.
Did you try to repair the damage to your cover?
