They know they are producing junk for export. The stuff they do not export and sell internally is high quality. They export low quality goods because American companies let them get away with it and American consumers are enabling the companies. We buy a $5 shirt from Walmart that disintegrates after a few washings instead of a $30 American shirt that lasts forever. If consumers would start demanding higher quality the American companies would start demanding higher quality goods from Chinese manufacturers. We are the ones telling the vendors price is more important than quality by our shopping habits.
A large percentage of American vitamins, nutrition supplements, and pet food comes from China. The stuff they export to America does not meet their own internal food quality laws and cannot be sold inside China.
