Well as a person who has worked and traveled extensively through China and have been in almost every major city and done business there let me try to bring some perspective to this rather paranoid and jingoistic idea expressed by several posters above.
Ford and Buick both have factories in China. Buick is the best selling car among the Chinese upper classes or as they are known there, the "Big Potatoes". In fact Ford is making an SUV for the Asian Market in Southern Cambodia also.
Many things you buy of very high quality including but not limited to IPods, HD TVs from Sony and most other Mfgs are made in China.
The Chinese have a thriving and very fast growing auto industry of their own. Do they borrow styles and ideas..certainly and so do we. Just look at how similar several US models look to some European ones. Suddenly the BMW "look" is hot. In 1938 Citroen produced the first Monocoque body, all independent suspension front wheel drive car called the Traction Avant...it took us until the 1970's to copy that design. The French also invented the Radial tire which most European cars had in the 1960's ...we didnt get them until much later...and does anybody raise a hue and cry about these "borrowings" of design? Not here.
So before you get too worked up take a look at your own automotive history first. It is one rife with copies, knock-offs and purchased (paid for) licensing of other countries technologies. And this continues up to this day as more and more auto technology and manufacturing is being shared among large car companies like Fiat/Chrysler Ford/Ford Europe/Australia and the habit of car companies to buy each other and merge technology.
It's not as simple as just blaming the Chinese...
