If you shop at Wal-Mart or Harbor Freight you are as much a part of the problem as the politicians who encourage American corporations to move capital and expertise and jobs out of the country.
It started with the move of manufacturing from the north where there were strong worker unions to the south where there were no unions and where the companies could pay half as much and not have to provide medical insurance. When this happened the decrease in the quality of American made clothing took a steep dive.
Next phase was when the Reagan administration had the US Department of Commerce hold events to encourage companies to move south to Mexico to set up factories. With NAFTA a lot of parts are made in Asia and shipped to Mexico where they are assembled and packaged and then enter the USA with no tariffs and they can evn be labrled "Made in the USA".
The Chinese commonly produce three levels of quality and the top tier products go to Europe. The middle tier go to Japan and Korea. The bottom level, Borax grade product, ships to the USA (and into the Wal-Marts, Home Depot, Target, Harbor Freight, etc.).
My pickup was made in Mexico and you own more foreign products than you think. And I won't state why American companies fled this country to not have to deal with Unions. That's an express lane to have this thread closed!
