I notice the folks responding from the West seem to have less complaints. Camping in the East must be a different critter than the West.
I think a lot of that is the tendency of a lot of East Coast campgrounds to really pack in the campers. More wear-and-tear on the restrooms, more screaming kids in the pool, more neighbor's firepit being too close to your rig, barking dogs are closer, more people cutting through your site, ad nauseum. Scientific experiments have proved that if there are too many ants in the hill or too many bees in the hive, problems occur. Same thing with a crowded rv park. Just my humble opinion....
It has to do very much with the parks, lot of which I avoid because they are set up like a parking lot,,like being in a crouded room of strangers trying to have a quiet conversation with someone when everyone else is doing the same.
And then there are the demographics, if you have a park close to (50 to 75 miles)a major city, and it attracts the inhabitants of that city (like toronto), it can be less enjoyable than a park in the middle of no where that attracts a more balanced mix of country and small town folk with the odd city dweller. I find people bring their mannerisms and social habits with them, and simple passing interaction can effect how a park feels, (friendly or unfriendly) thus peoples relaxed state, which can hinder or enhance social interaction ( like caring whether your crappy music is disturbing the neighbors and keeping it low enough so it does not)
Its a 2 way street that some people refuse to go with the flow on, if you do something that bothers your neighbor, then he does something, then the next guy does something else, and so on. to many people think the world revolves around them, they think they should be able to do whatever they want and don't you dare do anything that bothers them. like I'll run my generator all day, but don't you dare let your dog bark, or I'll let my screaming screeching snowball throwing mud covered dirty children trample through your site but don't you dare turn up your music or poop your dog anywhere near my site.
its nice to say,,"we just go where there aint no people" but unfortunately some of us live in areas where there is NO free land within hundreds of miles, then where there is its already occupied with people who live close enough to it, the rest is NOT accessible by vehicle,
maybe I could put wings and pontoons on my fifth wheel and a hitch on a small aircraft and fly into some of our remote areas up here,,,,, HMMMMM
