- Happy_ProspectoExplorerDo you think it is a portable moat? What if you are on a extended RV trip? Can the moat be tow-able? Does it have a trailer hitch? Do they make a portable blowup version?
Now I can't sleep. - down_homeExplorer III dunno!
Lots, of trouble. A couple of good mousers, that will sleep under the coach would be the better idea, perhaps. - mlts22Explorer III just don't see this being worth the bother for me.
Standing water in Texas brings mosquitoes, and stuff like West Nile, Zika, and other nasties. It also smells bad, even in winter.
In the north, it would freeze.
To boot, I've seen mice climb up some crazy surfaces before. If a mouse can jump out of a five gallon bucket (which is why the spinning can traps have water in the bottom), they can easily hop over the metal wall, and if they wind up dead in the moat, the aroma isn't that great either.
They can also drop down on the rig as well, like from a tree. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Oh sure, you want practicality too? :)
What keeps the water in if you take the car out for a drive to the store?
No...no... I think I read someplace it is only good for 1 fill of water. Then that is the last water...
Another cure we have discovered where we live, is like the folks on RV dot net the mice don't like our Toyotas :) :D:D
Anyways anyone can see this metal guard will stop mice when installed on a flat floor, water or no water inside it, except for the rare Rocky Mountain Ninja Jumping Mouse. - notevenExplorer III

Option #2
Skip the water and connect this thing to a cattle fence charger.
Then let's see how high a mouse can jump!
I know the town people who visit our place jump! Should work for meeces - JohnG3Explorer IIEasier to put 4 smaller moats at each tire?
- Happy_ProspectoExplorerI you have a water evaporation problem I suppose you could get a stock tank float that will keep your moat full of water.
