Mr Clean Magic Eraser.

Question, can you use a Mr Clean Magic Eraser to clean the roof on a 5th wheel?
Are there harmful chemicals in them?
  • homedad, Are you sure that burn wasn't irritation from the mild abrasive in the pad?

    Melamine foam
X2. It's Melamine. Same thing that forms the surface of those white pre-fab shelving units. It was also used as an additive for milk and baby formula in China in 2008, never mind the pesky side effects like "kidney failure".
  • He has very sensitive skin. I could be an allergic reaction. The way it blistered so quickly it looked more like a burn. He is also very allergic to poison ivy but the blisters don't show for several days.
  • Magic Erasers are a low grit sanding block. Do not use them on your roof. I wouldn't recommend using them on the paint on an aluminum sided TT either. Each time you do, you are removing a fine layer of paint. Just my two cents.
  • I use these things all the time for various things, though so far, not on my face. They haven't damaged painted walls, plastic surfaces in the house/car, leather furniture (leather care after cleaning), shower walls etc. etc.. They are a VERY fine abrasive.

I don't think they would work very well on a rubber roof, although they might clean a small spot pretty well, the natural chalking from the roof would clog them almost instantly. You'd need a lot of time, a lot of patience and a trainload of these things to do a whole roof. On the other hand, I don't think it would harm the roof.
