- boiseidahoExplorerWHAT!! When did the Dr. start letting us eat bacon again? Man I'm always the
last to know. - Okie_in_WyomingExplorerI put a quart sized zip lock bag over ours when I cook bacon. Slides on easily and it stops that racket until after breakfast. Our detector is next to the steps upstairs so I can reach it with no problem. And since it is in clear sight of the living area, we don't forget to remove the bag.
I posted a picture of it on here somewhere but I can't find that post now.
Why is it only when we cook bacon???? - JohnG3Explorer IIDW doesn't like bacon either and makes noises like the smoke detector whenever I cook bacon.
- CampinghossExplorer III just run the vent fan over the stove. That stops it from going off. It is a bit noisy but not that long.

Bill - Opie431ExplorerIf I am making a pound of bacon I make it outside in an electric frying pan. If I am making just a half pound or less I make it in the microwave, If I am making several pound, I make it at home until it is almost done and either put it in the freezer or in the refrigerator until I need it.
Perhaps if you had the door open, you could make it inside. I do not want the TT to smell of either bacon or fish so I make them outside.
Making bacon in a microwave is easy but the strength of you microwave determines how many minutes it cooks. - WeBeFulltimersExplorerCook bacon inside or outside makes no difference. But never....NEVER...cook bacon without a shirt on! :B:E
- pkunkExplorerMine has 2 - 2YO SD that only work with semi-depleted batteries. Tried new 9v batts and they beep all the time. I have checked the battery volts to be sure, just plain exasperating! Ya, toast sets them off as does the test button so they must just like lower voltage.

There is no downside to cooking outside. There are many downsides to cooking inside. especially in bear country.
We camp year round here in rainy Oregon... and often use our RV simply as a "vacation home" rather than actually camping. We often cook inside in the winter rather than getting everything (grill, stove, etc.) wet pulling it in and out of storage. - BigDaddyHfxExplorerI just replaced our smoke detector with one with a hush button. You can even push it before it goes off to make sure it doesn't go off for 15 minutes.
