Wife uses the smoke detector as her timer. When it goes off, everything is done. Kidding, we cook outside almost every meal, the only time we cook inside is because of bad weather.
My kids call it the dinner gong. :R - Gene_GinnyExplorer

Even without the alarm my nose can detect bacon even if I am 3 sites upwind of your stove. :C
.. its primary function in any RV is to detect the presence of any form of cooking pork, then to set off an acoustical alarm that notifies all surrounding campers what you have on the stove at that moment.... - roman_travelerExplorerI had the same problem. Went to home depot and bought one that's made for kitchen use. No more problem. I don't cherish the thought of removing the battery. You could end up like the bacon. Good luck.

I keep the batteries out of mine. They constantly went off.
Hopefully we never have a fire in the middle of the night

Remember, When you go to sleep, your nose also is sleeping. Not the safest fire safety plan. - NanciLExplorer III keep the batteries out of mine. They constantly went off.

I'm not allowed to book bacon the fiver, wife loves bacon but can't stand the smell. I love to walk the campground first thing in the morning and smell all the bacon cooking, makes a great start to your day. Happy camping and eating all.
How can anyone hate the smell of bacon? Thats just wrong....:) - HalmfamilyExplorerI'm not allowed to book bacon the fiver, wife loves bacon but can't stand the smell. - rexlionExplorerMy smoke detector goes off every time I take a shower! Simple moisture sets it off.
- othertonkaExplorerI don't remove the battery, I remove the whole detector and put it under the bed pillow. that way I don't forget to reinstall it before going to bed. Works for me.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII use disposable sh0wer cap or those plastic bowl covers with elastic in them and just slap one over smoke detector until I'm done cooking......easier than removing battery
