12 years ago, they said the same thing when the Kipor came out.
Then they said the same thing when the Boliy came out.
Then they said the same thing when the Champions came out.

Now there are even more good brands out now, yet none of them have made Honda or Yamaha lower their prices. Not even their top competitor, Champion.

They are still the gold standard, so they don't have any reason to lower prices.

In large part because Honda/Yamaha dealers are everywhere, and any small engine place will work on them. Those other guys? Not so much.

X2, and I own the Red. Jury is still out on the HB gennies, maybe they're OK.

The Champion line has a big following and good customer support from what I've read here. Have not read any negative about them in a lot of years on this forum.

Best deal I've seen so far is the Champion 3400 with remote start my daughter bought online for $999 delivered with no tax.

I have had excellent performance from the Champion generator I have, where it worked through even through a hurricane.
