You don't rent a site 15 feet from other groups if people on all sides of you and expect total peace and quiet. If it's all about you, go boondock somewhere where there are no other people.ken56 wrote:
People who think that just because they RENT a site they can do absolutely anything they want to and be as obnoxious and inconsiderate as they possibly can because after all .... its all about THEM and their good time and to hell with everyone else. You only RENT the space your camping on and the property owner has the right to expect a certain level of behavior and respect to other campers from their guests. It is THIER business, not YOURS they are running and want everyone to have a pleasant time. Why is it that basic consideration of others is such an imposition on some people???
The same can be said for the drunks that like to party and annoy everyone. Want to stay up late, make all kinds of noise and act like complete idiots, find a remote place where nobody cares.
If you go to a public campground, it is only common sense that you don't be loud and obnoxious.
The sad thing is, common sense is not so common anymore. - Nutinelse2doExplorer

Nope I vote this as #1. Hilarious. Thanks! - RoadXYZExplorer IISmokers who do not put their butts in the trash .. better to get a bucket of sand to put butts in .. still remember years when at the grocery store parking lot, pull into a site, and there as I stepped out was a pile of cigarette butts from the car/truck ash tray ...
When was a Volunteer Host at campgrounds one of our jobs was cleaning out fire pits, and butts were the least of the problems we encountered, plastic this and that was the worst .. most times they were melted and on came the plastic gloves to remove ..
But seriously my pet peeve is people who leave potato chips, fresh fruit, left over sandwiches on their picnic table ... and ... leave for a couple of hours .. yep, here come the Raccoons .. next thing we know - those same people are complaining about the Raccoons - where the heck do they think they are camping ? Along the Coast and in the forests is where they are .. and Raccoons are the least of the critters they are inviting into the campgrounds. Just wish people would use their common sense when camping, cooking, and generally enjoying themselves.
AND we have turned off our patio light when it is obviously shining into neighbor's TT/etc.
And yes, we also camp/are sometimes tourists/enjoy camping even when not volunteering.
ON EDIT - forgot to say that these campers we all complain about are only about 10-15% of the populace who are out camping in campgrounds. - owenssailorExplorerSeems to me some people need to remember the 2 rules to life......

2) It's all small stuff - Wagonqueen_TrucExplorer

I bought a LED light strip specifically to be more discret. I can dim it to its lowest setting and make them red (which is easier on the eyes) it just puts a very dim glow just enough so I can see but really isn't nearly as noticeable as a large amber light or porch light.
Also I keep my outside speakers reasonable, so that others want gear them, if no one else is near my site, I turn them up more. I can't resist a little more volume for Pink Floyd if no one else is around.
Speakers reasonable and Pink Floyd?....can't happen, (as I'm searching for new speakers for my truck). My husband gives me (*&^ every time Pink Floyd comes on the radio, cuz no matter where I am, office at work (which we share), his truck or our stake truck....Oh ya MAMA IS BLASTIN LOL
Amen brother... I installed (interior) kick butt speakers into my 76 amerigo TC. They are JBL 's that are unbelievably awesome sounding (and loud). There can be no holding back on the volume when a Pink Floyd is playing. That would be sacreligious. - linnemjExplorer

I can agree that kids will be kids and dogs will be dogs. There are some campers that are not tolerant of such things and will complain at the slightest disturbance which to me is the same as being an inconsiderate slob who doesn't think the rules apply to them, even the basic rules of civility. Yep, we are free to leave, but what about the week I paid for in advance with a no refund policy? I complain to management about any serious infraction, not kids or dogs. Again, why is basic consideration of others such an imposition on some people? Its not hard to be quiet after quiet hours are in effect.....is that too much to ask? I guess for some it is. Can't pick up after your dog? then let him******on your own site. You have a right to smoke? then pick up the butts, don't litter them all around the camp site. Is that too much to ask?? Just because you may be in a "public" campground doesn't mean there are no rules.
My vote for best comment on this thread! - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIAs a 'previous' smoker (pack a day PLUS for 48 yrs..........quit SEPT 12, 2013) I hate finding butts thrown on the ground.
Just cause one smokes doesn't mean they have to litter. Always 'field stripped' and put butt on pocket to dispose of later if ash trays were not handy.
Noisy kids.........quiet ones scare me. They are up to something and it's never good.
Drunks and/or rude people.....I treat them the same as a wandering off leash dog. Spray them down with my hose.
Dong poop.......I have a small shovel. Great for flinging it at the owner. - Kennedy64Explorer
