- ctilsie242Explorer III would say that after listening to the Champion, Honda, and Yamaha, all ~3000 watt models... they are pretty much the same, noise-wise. I would go with a Champion, either the remote start, or the dual fuel, because with the dual fuel model, you can "blast out" the carb by running it a few minutes on propane before storing it. This way, there is no way for the carb to get gummed up.
- Dog_TrainerExplorerMy Champion 3100 inverter runs my 15,000 Air with no problem. Quiet enough and reliable. It is backed by a good warranty and the remarks I have read are mostly positive.
- FirstTracksExplorerI had spent $795 at Walmart.com for the 3100 with remote start (75537i). At the time Amazon was the same price. When Amazon dropped their price I called Walmart and got $200+ back on my card. So even if you've already bought it, watch those prices.
- Boon_DockerExplorer IIIThere was a discussion on another forum yesterday about the Champ 3100 price on Amazon. The price went from $595 to $774 to $595 then to over $800 all in a matter of hours.
- NY_RVerExplorerI have 2 Hondas 2000 that I twin together to run ac, etc, but honestly went into Amazon the other day and saw the champion 3100 was $595 and started thinking that it might be worth a try for that price. Well, I think I thought for too long, as I went in tonight to place the order and price is in the $800s plus. Does anyone known how often they drop price like that on Amazon?
- Boon_DockerExplorer IIILOL, good plan.
I think I will do the same, paint my Champ 2000 red then all the Honda nay sayers will be commenting on how quiet my Honda is. :B - aguablancoExplorer

Nobody is ever going to hear my generator unless they follow me from Walmart to Walmart or come visit me on the farm. I have painted mine red so that those that do wander by, simply say, "Very quiet generator, must be a Honda".
I may need some of that red paint myself. Then we might be able to differentiate between perception and reality.

I love hearing the Honda people claim facts about something they have no idea about. I have the Champion 3100 model number 75531i and yes IT will run a 15K AC AND it will do it at approx. 50% RPM in economy mode. I have ran the AC, coffee pot and microwave all at the same time just to see and it didn't skip a beat.
There are three of us at our races that all run the exact same model and none have had not one issue with any of them. Fuel tank size is the ONLY negative. Highly recommend and suggest Amazon for best price.
I feel the same way about you guys and Champion. I agree with every good thing about the Champions- except for the fact that all the Champion owners seem to emphasize it being as quiet as the Honda 2000. Just my personal opinion, but the Champion IS NOT AS QUIET AS THE HONDA. PERIOD.
If you add red to those BOLD CAPITALIZED letters we will definitely agree with you. Do you really think bold and caps will make your point better than actual facts?
RichH - MrWizardModeratorI have never read or seen where 3 db is the difference a person can detect, although that could be an accurate description
Im sure the detectable amount varies by person
3d gain is a doubling of previous measured electrical energy introduced in the meter by the sound level, it is a logarithmic scale
Example IF measured sound produces 1 mv in the sensor, 2 mv will be 3db, 4mv 6db, 8Mv 9db , 16mv 12db
Each 3db is a doubling of the previous induced/ measured energy level
Measured energy is not the same as human physical perception
The differences between Honda and champion, are not worth, all the berating that goes on around here
Because some prefer to spend less $$ for a champion instead of a Honda
