so buy them once, what program are you drawn into? I usually only exchange tanks when My old one is getting sort of ratty.

Costco here in the San Diego area (Santee) now has a propane filling service and they can do RV (motorhome) tanks. A week or so back it was $2.49 a gal. They just installed a huge storage tank over next to the tire shop for those familiar with this area. All you Santee Lakes campers take note.

Great deal. Just a WARNING to those who do tank swaps. Be aware of the date stamp on the handle. I got an expired tank and could not have it re filled. Had to exchange it and will never go back.

I would have to drive the 50 miles… I have never seen 30 pound exchange tanks anywhere, and I don’t want to go to 20 pounders…

Something to keep in mind when you exchange tanks is that you don't get credit for any remaining propane in the old tanks, plus it's anyone's guess as to the quality of the tank you get in exchange. We just have the local shop fill our tanks, that way I get to keep my good quality tanks and only pay for what propane I need (plus I don't support Wal-mart, but that's besides the point...)
