Question on Splendide Washer Dryer Combo

Looking at new RV's and some of the units have Splendid Washer Dryer Combo in them. Would love any opinions on them good or bad. Are they worth the money. Do they do a good job washing/Dryer shirts, shorts and items.

Thanks KC
  • Yes, they work. Yes, the drum is small, thus small loads. Yes,clothes do wrinkle. Yes, they can get out of balance when drying. Yes, having one means not wasting time at some shady laundrymat.
  • The 2100C works fine for us as full timers. No complaints. First on e lasted 10 years doing a load a day. Still worked when we replaced it but timer was womky. Now on the second one.
  • We lived in a fifth wheel for three years, with a Splendide vented combo.
It often got used twice a day.
We found that if we put one suit of clothes in it (shirt, jeans, underwear, socks) it did a great job with minimal wrinkling.
So, in the evening, I would shower and put my clothes in the Splendide. In the morning, they were clean and ready to put on.
When DW got home from work, she would put here scrubs in it, and go to bed. when she got up, they were done, but she usually hung them up instead of wearing them again.
If we ever go full timing again, the RV MUST have a Splendide installed!
That means I would have to get a different coach, there is no room for one in the Southwind!
  • Had both combo and stacked - I would not waste my money on the combo - the stacked one actually get used
  • I have the 2100XC and have used it as a full timer for the past 5 years. Like most things it takes a little getting used to, but I wouldn't be without it. As others have already said, it does smaller loads, but I'm retired. Who cares. I just set up and come back later and load it up again. I even like the motion it provides in my 5'er when running. I sleep right through it.
  • I have separate washer & dryer from the same company. They are sold in the U.S. by Westland Sales.

One word of warning. Despite what they may tell you, the only available service is at their facility in Elkhart. I've been calling their listed service providers all over the country for over two years. None has ever returned my call.

Fortunately their phone support and parts supply is excellent and I've kept mine running though not correctly.

I'll be in Elkhart in a couple months.
  • I wouldn't be without ours, but we are full timers now. I do a small load every few days.
I never used it on weekend trips though before we retired.
It washes and dries a king size comforter with no problems.
  • My wife would not be without her vented combo. She washes everything including king sheets, towels and washcloths, my jeans, etc. It does take a while and the loads are relatively small. But with the combo we can put a load of laundry in, set it to wash and dry, go out doing whatever we want to do, and come back later to a clean dry load of laundry. Then maybe put another load in and off we go again.

Only on occasions of having accumulated a lot to wash does she go to a park laundry.

Very common question answered in the search box above. I recently bought a new takeout 2100XC vented for $500.
