Probably why I have 3 Grandfather clocks running all the time in the house. I like them, the chimes and the tick-tock too.

Just pulling the second hand off a clock that has one will do nothing because the mechanism FOR the second hand is STILL in there causing the clicks. As you have found out.

I lucked out and my MH came with a clock with out the second hand. I hear nothing from this clock.

I have bought several clocks without the second hand for my home and none of them click either!.

You have not looked hard enough!! There's a plethora of nice looking clocks that will fit in that space and do NOT have a second hand.

As I mentioned earlier to my surprise Dollar Store and Walmart have a 'very' nice selection of unique wall clocks with out the second hand.

I don't like the digital format clocks, either. For the S&B, I went to an antique shop and bought an old GE with sweep second hand. I can't hear it with my ear nearly against it.

There are battery driven analog clock mechanisms that are virtually silent, too. We were gifted a clock that had a pendulum, battery operated. It was quiet.

Do a search on eBay or Amazon for "quiet clock". Or if you can take your clock apart, search for "quiet clock movement". Replace the movement with the quite one. As stated earlier, it's not the second hand making the tick, it's the movement itself.

you need to look for a battery clock that has no hands only numbers
