I've read this with interest because we are planning to buy an RV in the states next spring. We are in the Virgin Islands. Clearly, we cannot fly to where ever we buy it with a suitcase filled with cash. We have to go through Customs and Immigration on our way out of St. Thomas and there is a question on the customs form about carrying more than $10,000 in cash. I don't know what happens if you check yes, but I don't want to find out either. It's not likely we'll buy something sight unseen but we know people who have and it worked out fine. Our bank is here as well. From reading this it looks like a wire transfer is the best route. I have gotten paid by British companies to that same Virgin Islands bank via wire transfer so it looks like it's probably possible to wire transfer from here. However, if anyone sees any pitfalls to this I'd like to hear about them. Thanks.
