- littlemoExplorerOr you can make rugs with them. Great padding for the puppy with his favorite "banky" on top!
- mlts22ExplorerI use them to line the toilet when my rig is winterized, I keep a good amount of plastic bags. It isn't pretty, but it is a sanitary way to be able to have a bathroom when boondocking in 20 degree temperatures with a rig that has absolutely zero bottom insulation.

. . . or use Mutt Mitts. - D_E_BishopExplorerPlastic bags will fall apart under UV light but not bio degrade, some plastics are made into new water bottles. Look at Arrowhead bottles, it says reborn on the label which is not made from recycled plastic.
- C_SchomerExplorerThe grocery store recycle boxes around here are for #4 plastic, which is what I've found most plastic bags are, even the softener salt bags. The recycle yard, down the road, takes #1 and #2 plastics and I've been seeing a #2 on some plastic bags lately. I recycle so much, I hardly need a trash can. Craig
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe've been traveling in New Mexico lately and WalMart is going to paper bags.
Last summer the groceries on the Olympic Peninsula, WA went the same way. Yea!!!!
If you have a doggie you better start saving the plastic ones. - westendExplorerAFAIK, some of the Euro countries have been using personal shopping bags for quite some time. I seem to remember that there wasn't a large amount of plastic bags when I was over there.
At the local grocery chains in my area, we have the choice of paper or plastic and I usually choose paper. As others have said, they can be repurposed for a variety of tasks. We recycle any bags and recyclable plastic, glass, cardboard, paper, and metal. We have a large plastic garbage can that is single-sort and is picked up bi-weekly. - john_betExplorer IIMy little small town has a bag factory and a few years ago they added a recycle center. Recycled bags go back into the factory to be made into new ones. I guess people are just to lazy to take them back to the store they got them from and put them into the recycle box in front of store.
