My Crossman 2100 Classic with .17 pellet will dispatch anything small (squirrel, rabbit, etc) easily.

What works for mice dosen't seem to work for Red Squirrels. They ate the injector wires off my truck, $1500 and chewed holes in our shed and I tried about everything. If I plugged the holes they just chewed another. I finally lined almost the whole inside with metal screeening. Things are very hard to shot with a pellet gun, live in town so a shotgun is out. I caught one in a live trap after much effort. The only thing that seems to keep them away is "Critter Ridder" I get at Tractor Supply. Have to reply often and can't be used on painted surfaces but does do the job.

Well, you can come out and see the "renter" that is using my yard barn as his pantry and apartment. He eats his meals there as one year I emptied 4 garbage cans of opened Butternuts. Those nut hulls burned for three days, lol.

When I said, "remove the food source", I was referring to anything in the immediate area, not just the inside of an RV. It's difficult to do, although, one year I confiscated the food pile before Winter and Mr. Red moved out. I know he was pissed because he sat in a tree above the nuts in the buckets and scolded me for a few hours.

its shoot the critter outside when he is heading for the RV

Nobody in the "hood" is going to hear an air gun inside the RV !

the question was regarding noise and effectiveness of the two different methods

Put out a large pile of Sun Flower seeds and peanuts. That will take care of them. :B
