Yesterday I hauled the girlfriend and her mother (Mary) to a doctors appointment. Mary is in her 80's and doesn't walk very well.
We stopped for a few minutes at a apartment complex so that Mary could see her great grandchild for the first time.
When we were leaving I backed my pickup right up by the door to pick her up. There was a sign that said "No Parking Fire Lane" right next to me. I understand the importance of this but, I was setting in the truck with the engine running. If there had been a sudden fire I would have moved.
Still, if a cop had driven by I'm sure he would have ticketed me. What was I suppose to do? Let the silver haired old lady slip on the ice and break a hip?
