- derh20ExplorerThanks for all the feedback. I'll be sure to drain it in a safe manner.
- Johno02ExplorerNot only is regular antifreeze very toxic, it is also attractive to animals, especially domestic pets. I do not know any numbers but we hear about pets killed from drinking antifreeze every year.
- dieharderExplorerRegular antifreeze can't be just dumped through a dump station or in a park's sewer system. You could face the same penalty as if you are caught dumping the antifreeze in the sewer in front of your house.
You're going to need to dump into a container and dispose of properly. Hope there weren't any "leftovers" in your tanks before you put the antifreeze in. - full_moseyExplorer

Where does this toxic antifreeze go when you drain the tanks? :S
HTH;
John - Dutch_12078Explorer IIIt won't hurt anything in the drains or waste tanks, but do make sure it's disposed of safely when de-winterizing. A single gallon of RV antifreeze is more than enough for that purpose though, and certainly safer in case of accidental spills. Personally, I've never found a need for antifreeze in the waste tanks.
- PapaNIes60ExplorerEventually you will have to dispose of the anti-freeze. Regular anti-freeze is considered a hazardous waste and must be disposed of properly. Not on the ground or even in the sewer system. Use RV anti-freeze. It is environmentally safe.
- downtheroadExplorerProbably not for protection...
but, regular automobile anti-freeze is highly poisonous. Make sure you drain it carefully into a container. Keep it away from you and your animals...and if any is in your lines or fresh water tank...make sure you flush, flush and flush some more. - SoundGuyExplorer

RV antifreeze is non-toxic ... and there's no need for any in the tanks themselves, other that what little might drain into the black and grey when pumping anti freeze through the rig's water system. Might have been a good idea to ask before you did this, not after. :R - Iraqvet05ExplorerRV antifreeze is non-toxic. Most auto antifreeze has ethylene glycol which will screw up your kidneys or kill your animals if consumed.
- derh20ExplorerI don't put it in the fresh water tank, just the black and grey tanks.
