- FezziwigExplorerChina and India are using more fuels and driving the price up around the world.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerWe have massive amounts of fossil fuels right here in America. The high price of fuel is driven by political and monetary policy. We just weakened the dollar even more. Paying people to drive EV's actually fueled by coal and natural gas making electricity isn't going to solve these problems. Less than 4 years ago, gas was only $1.79/gal and can be so again.

Humph, more of our taxpayer dollars down the tubes. It is a sad state of affairs. I've read some verbage that says the cost of green energy is greater then the current cost of fossil fuels.
We complain about cost of incentives but we don't say anything about other countries providing moneys for their cars to improve sales. I am not sure if the Prious has ever made money.
This era of 4 dollar gas is going only one way and that is up. We only love oil because that is what we were taught. I wonder about that love when we make 5 bucks a gallon? - SRTExplorerGasoline prices continue to drift down. Several stations are down to $3.89. Some are at $3.94 and the rest are still at $3.99. Diesel runs from $4.14 to $4.25. Sure glad I'm retired and not driving 60 miles round trip daily.
- kmb1966ExplorerI too have a Nissan Leaf. Have had it over a year, and I have absolutely no complaints. Best car I have ever had. We love driving it. no maintenance really other than tire rotation. We have not experienced any battery problems. Can drive in the Texas heat with a/c ON for 82 miles at 65mph.
Getting a little more than 100 miles in and around town. It's been a great car so far. - camperdaveExplorer

Two years ago, enthusiasm for EV's was over the top high. Now it's swung the other way to extreme pessimism. The reality is of course somewhere in the middle. It is a viable alternative that will slowly gain a share of the market.
The bigger shame right now is how Nissan is handling it's loss of capacity problem on their Leaf's. Talk about killing potential sales, as well as destroying resale value! Basically blaming the end users for abuse instead of helping them out with a solution. If I were in the market for a Leaf right now, I'd be waiting for the next gen batteries to come out (supposed to be next year, cheaper and more range). How are they going to sell the inventory they have right now? :?
I have now driven 10k EV miles in the last year, it did not replace all my gas usage, but certainly decreased my need for gasoline. Seems like you'd be happy about that, more gas for you! :h
It's not my fault (or desire) that the govmt wastes so much money on it. Black eye for the industry for sure. But hey, my tax money pays for a whole lot of things I disagree with. At least I get some benefit from this one. :B - cekkkExplorer

Inflation at 2.5%? Who is kidding who? They have not used two minor things food and fuel as inputs into the consumer price index in the last 15 years.
They are cherry picking data. Trash in = trash out.
Inflation is running at 10+ % annually. All that being accomplished is the illusion of growth and with it a continuing lowering of your standard of living.
X2. Oh, now another $10 Gs discount if you'll buy a Volt. Not retroactive! :B Gobble Gobble! - Gale_HawkinsExplorerWe just hit 8 states on a 10 business trip and $3.49 as about as low at we paid for 87 and that was in the gulf coast states.
Only place I saw ethanol free gas promoted was in MS I think. - LindsayRichardsExplorerWe are on a month long trip and will be needing our first fuel today. We are in Ga and it looks like the going rate is about in the mid $3.70's. I'll be getting about 50 gallons. Ouch. At least we are out of the love bugs. The front of my coach looks like black Velcro. That has to be hurting my mileage.
