- DelCamperExplorerThat is a 50 mile by 50 mile patch of land. Less than a county out west.
They ain't putting a cork in this bottle. - LindsayRichardsExplorer
The Interior Department on Friday issued a final plan to close 1.6 million acres of federal land in the West originally slated for oil shale development.
It is starting already. The excuse is damage to the prairie grouse habitat. Solar and wind will be permitted although both have much bigger damage to the habitat. These will never be built due to horrible return on investment. - cekkkExplorer

Fracking is here to stay. It may be more regulated but there is an axiom in the energy industry, "No low cost energy source goes unused".
Only in a pro-capitalist economy. We're awash in oil here, and gas and coal. But we send much needed dollars to other countries. Can't have it both ways.
Woodland Park apparently has decided it will no longer be a price leader. Diesel still $4.09 to 4.16, while 18 minutes down the pass in the Springs it's in the mid 3.90s. - DelCamperExplorertomman58
"Are you forgeting that it has ALWAYS been that way whee we make money they make a bowl of rice?"
It has not ALWAYS been that way. We had Tariffs with China until December of 2000. Those Tariffs leveled the playing field. Since then we go head to head with virtual slave labor. It's been an entirely different ball game post December 2000 and the evisceration of US Industrial Capacity is the result. - LindsayRichardsExplorerBuy American Energy for America. AMERICAN energy creates millions and millions of American jobs.

I can only be a realist. With labor costs in the developing world 1/10 or less than that in the US and for practical purposes zero environmental / safety regulations any other conclusion is illogical and is fueled by wishful thinking devoid of the facts. No one pays $50K / year when $5K labor is available and so willing that they will literally die for that job and do.
It's a bitter pill to swallow indeed but it's there none the less.

Buy American for America. Sign said: spend a dollar a day on AMERICAN products and create one million jobs. - DelCamperExplorerI can only be a realist. NG pipeline are going in thru areas here in Michigan that were never before considered profitable enough. This is a sign of things to come with the low cost of NG this infrastructure is being put in so they will have a demand that will raise the costs and profits (the bigger picture).
The new cars and trucks evolving in the next few years will make anything older than 6 or 8 years obsolete and to costly to operate. Kinda like the ol'frig in the garage just purring along and costing so much more than a new one that it isn't close to being practical. - LindsayRichardsExplorerI sure hope you are right, but I have heard that the EPA is getting ready to take it over and regulate it to death. 1.3 million wells fracked and not one documented case of ground water contamination (as answered by Lisa Jackson, head mistress of EPA), yet the average citizen thinks it is ruining our whole nation's water supply.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerWe stayed a couple of days in the Two Harbors area and it is a truly beautiful area. There may be a local tax situation that causes the difference. Our fuel continues to drop in price (Central Florida). I even saw $3.18 although the average is around a dime more.
