- LindsayRichardsExplorerI just found out today that the fiscal cliff deal had a one year 50 cent per gallon equivalent gallon CNG deal in it which is bringing the price down to 99 cents per gallon of diesel equivalent. The was a tiny part of the $12.8 BILLION wind subsidy. This should give the category a boost although, I don't believe in any subsidies of any kind. The free market does a much better job of picking winners and losers.

Of course, the difference between EV's and CNG is that on EV's the much more expensive cost is just paid for by taxpayers. The $155/month lease on the Volt is way,way below the actual cost. It is just subsidized where the CNG is private and the savings are real. In the real world, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
At the Chevy dealer in Murray KY a VOLT lease will cost you $299 a month for 36 months with $2419 down so not sure where the $155 posted figure come from.
The guy that called me back and I got to talking about used trucks and he said they are just not had to be used. He is in the process of taking in a 2003 Ford F350 6.0 with 88K miles trade that will be sell for mid teens. He said this is the first TV class of truck they have had in a long time. - tomman58ExplorerYep my Volt cost $179 for lease and it is well below cost BUT GM wanted to get it out there for all to see and drive. We love the car and it costs US very little to own and drive. In 2 years I'll check the market again and now with the charger installed at home (at no cost to us) we will find it just as easy to do a hybrid or electric again. Diesel went down 16 cents here in Fl must've had customers going elsewhere in spring hill today I paid #3.76

We have a poster here that claims to have rented one for $199/month with a 2 year term. I have seen them advertised on TV for as little as $155/month. Not sure about the charger. The sales of them have been pathetic and they started these cheap leases to get their production number up some and keep from shutting down the production lines again.
I don't think you will find Volt on the list of 10 worst selling cars.
LEAF has had a tough 2012 but that may change when production starts in TN next month.Gale Hawkins wrote:
Is it a fact with good credit I can lease a Volt for $155 a month. Does it have the charger built in?
Yes the Volt has a built in charger. You can plug it into any 120v outlet. The cord is included. For faster charging it will also accept 240v but then you need an additional 240v wall unit with the J1772 plug for $700 to $1,200 + install. Unlike an RV you can use that welder or dryer outlet in the garage to get 240v.
I would like to see a CNG Volt :)
But then Honda has been making a CNG vehicle for quite some time and sales have not really taken off. The home compressors are far more expensive(compared to EV charging) and still take electricity. When CNG is more easily available for consumers out on the road these may take off.- LindsayRichardsExplorer

The over the road truckers are reporting a $40,000/year in fuel savings. If you wish to educate yourself on them, go to CNG.com.
So the fuel savings pays for the truck in full in just a couple years? This will be a slam dunk.

When the oil tankers are powered by CNG I am going to really laugh.
