- DelCamperExplorerFirst, we're broke. Second everything is being done to get the third world to become developed energy consumers of high carbon fuel. The developed world cuts back one unit of carbon fuel only to be replaced by two units in the developing world which including China is exempt from global carbon reduction treaty.
All that is being done is to increase the cost of carbon fuel in the developed world to limit it's use and therefore make more available for global development.
All of this has zero to do with the environment. - LindsayRichardsExplorerWatch the video so you can join in. The India car was an air car. This is a air hybrid. Totally different. Uses compressed air as a storage devise for energy rather than the heavy battery. If we allowed more fracking, domestic oil fuels would be much cheaper like natural gas has become. Wind and solar are approaching 2%. What are you thinking it will be up to in 4 years?
- LindsayRichardsExplorerPretty neat idea. Basically just like an EV hybrid, but it uses compressed air to store energy rather than a battery. It doesn't have the huge problem of recharging. You can refill the tanks in a minute and have a compressor at home running on power from the coal fired power plant just like the EV's to compress the air. It could be running when you are not there and then just transfer the air to your vehicle in a minute. I still think CNG will be the next big thing, but these look interesting.

The French have just introduced a air hybrid that works like an electric hybrid except it doesn't have the very large inefficiencies that occur when generating electricity or using electricity. Has a gasoline engine and 2 large air cylinders instead of batteries. It can start on a full charge of air pressure and then regenerates air pressure by braking like an EV. The gas engine can turn the wheels or add air to the tanks as needed and controlled by the computer. It is basically like an electric hybrid, but lighter and much more efficient. Yahoo had a big article and video on it. It doesn't have all the hazard rare earth chemicals associated with the batteries (also come from countries that don't like us.)Hopefully this will replace the dirty EV's.

I like the concept. Might not be as fast as 505 STI that I had years ago. That was one nice car until a guy took the side out of it. - LindsayRichardsExplorerThe French have just introduced a air hybrid that works like an electric hybrid except it doesn't have the very large inefficiencies that occur when generating electricity or using electricity. Gas prices in Michigan went up 12 cents in the last week. Our governor has requested a special election for us to raise the sales tax 2%to fix our roads. Somehow I don't think he should waste the time to ask, LOL.
Why is every government afraid to raise the fuel tax? Very simple that bigger heavy vehicles pay more along with more miles pays more :R
Cars are becoming more and more efficient and we are slowly but surely going to electric and other hybrids that need little or no gas. So putting a tax on fuel isn't as lucrative as before.
you are right thought as the big trucks are the main problem for keeping roads in shape. tomman58 wrote:

- SRTExplorerGas prices continue to move up. Prices vary from $3.12 to $3.29. Diesel prices vary 10¢ a gallon below and above $3.90. Diesel prices haven't moved very much compared to gasoline. Wonder what prices will be like this summer......:(
