RV wave

I like to wave too. Sometimes we wind up at the same campground later in the day. The ones I wonder about are the ones I pass or who pass me that never look over; like they are totally oblivious to a passing rig almost 60' long. HUH?

It makes us feel good to wave. We are indifferent if we receive one in return. But we go chuckle if the oncoming driver has "that" look on their face.

When we pull up next to another Ford dually, I give the thumbs up!

We wave. If we're in just our truck, I wave to the other duallies. I think I get waves back more often than not.

In the rural,agricultural town I once lived, everyone always waved.

One finger lifted of the steering wheel meant Hi!

A full hand facing up meant: HI. I know/like you.

A full hand up and waving back and forth meant: I really like you or I love you!

You always knew exactly where you stood with the driver when meeting them on the road.

Truckers flash one another when they've passed and all is clear so they can pass back into the lane. When we're towing, we do this for truckers.

We live in open range country. "high beam flash" means cattle on road ahead. We always wave.

We were taught in drivers ed that people flash their bright lights at others that "forget" that they have their own bright lights on and are too close to you. It's too difficult to even notice during the day. I have heard of flashing your lights on then off to alert someone of a speed trap.

Someone else mentioned that everyone waves down south. From my experience, you can expect more initiated waves and return waves anywhere rural, no particular part of the country. I have found that the nearer you are to large population centers, the less friendly people are in general.

Where I grew up and lived for 30 years it was not uncommon to pass friends or family while driving (very rural). It was also not uncommon to recognize someone in an oncoming vehicle and give a very slight swerve in their direction, at a safe distance of course.
