- trailertravelerExplorerI think some of the more radical attacks/efforts to control pollution based on climate change are out of control. Carbon Dioxide(CO2) is now classified as a pollutant. Methane is a greenhouse gas. Wonder how long it will be before we need individual permits and scrubbers for our point source emissions?

These places are a LONG way from 'mega homes', in fact they're typically small homes, condos, and a few apartments with zero clearance on either side. Expensive?, sure. But they ain't mega anything..
I wonder how many of the people with the mega homes near the area have an indoor or outdoor fireplace?
It in no way affects any CG, and I don't remember if there were homes backed up to Newport Dunes , but they are a long way from all this ruckus. Much ado about nothing.. - terry_thiessenExplorerAnother good idea from supporters of hope and change.

Here it is, another round of 'let's bash California' ... Of everyone posting here, there are only a few that really know what's going on if they had been watching the news.
This whole things started with beach residents whineing about the smoke in their homes, nothing more. Someone thought it would be a good idea to get AQMD involved because they weren't getting any traction with their complaining, now its the AQMD making a deal about it. There is no money trail, no payoffs, no Calif and AQMD sticking their noses in. They were invited by a bunch of people akin to moving in next to an airport then complaining about the noise from a facility that's been there 50 years longer than they have, and that's a national problem. It's the old NIMBY syndrome again, and very likely by campers with a completely different attitude when camping themselves.
..
Sad - going, going - one more year - then... GONE!..:W
BTW - favorite FOX News story.....

Over 500 hp two systems.
Most semis, I understand run about 550 hp. The requirement even includes fork lifts etc.
Diesels are now about as clean as you can get their exhaust, to the point of being a whole lot cleaner than the air in southern California. These people treat Americans as fools just like when they said small cars were safer than large SUVs. At the time it was targeted at diesel Expeditions.
The problem is this x many people produce x amount of pollution and consume x amount of resources. They are bringing in more people and the x is now xxxxxx. They want the same for us or Mexico does.
Pollution cannot be reduced by shifting the energy consumption to nuclear plants, or coal fired electrical plants etc.
They have some restrictions, catalytic converters, for wood stoves in parts of that state. Pollution is real and they are making it worse and blaming it on everyone but themselves.
