Just a point of reference, we recently took a set of Good Year P metric car tires ( Aquatread ) out of service on a car in the family. These passenger car tires were on this car for just over 11 years. They still had over half their original tread, so as we can see, they sat a lot. Yet, when they were used, throughout their 11 year life, they always performed as expected, on the highway, or on city streets. None of them failed at any time, in any way during their life.
Are they, as passenger car tires, made "better", to a "higher standard" ? I don't know. What I do know is they worked. We got our money out of that set of tires.
