I have no issue in the amount of signs it takes to get people to "slow down"
I live in a small Ontario village and traffic at times don't drop at all from the 80km. Not living in the USA, we appreciate the signs. When you don't use the roads daily you don't know if you are in a school zone, where passing is safe etc. We don't know the roads.
I live in a small town too (London in the profile because it's the closest city people would recognize)and drive through several daily on my way to work. It's true that a lot of people don't slow down through the towns. It's not because they don't see the signs. You could put 50 signs and it wouldn't change. We don't need more signs, we need better instruction and policing.
The school zone signs are definitely important ones that we should have, but how many of those are posted? Usually just one for "school zone begins" and sometimes one for "school zone ends". You dont see "school zone ahead", followed by "school zone begins", followed by "school zone" like you do for a simple speed limit.
You don't need signs for passing, even if unfamiliar with the roads, just look at the road. The "signage" is painted right on it in the form of designated centerline stripes. Posted signage is just redundant and unnecessary.
