The speed limit has more to do with the liberal mentality of our government who are a bunch of eco-friendly types. Drive slower= massive fuel savings= cleaner environment.
Not so much the eco-friendly, but the Governor is a Trauma Unit surgeon, and has seen many times the results of high speed vehicle accidents.
I believe during his first two terms, the highest speed limit in the state was 55, not 100% there may have been a couple stretches posted at 60.
To the issues with signs, most people don't see half of the warning signs on the road, too busy with iPhone, iPod, or Navigation device.
