Recently the state of Michigan decided that it was time to update the signs on M-72 on the 24 mile stretch between Kalkaska and Grayling. They replaced EVERY sign wether it was 6 months old or 60 years old. If that wasn't a big enough waste of money, the resurveyed the exact location of every sign. Can't have a sign a foot or two out of place. I'm guessing that there are 20 to 25 signs per mile. It included cross street signs, passing signs, speed limit signs, curve and incline warnings, DNR and campground access signs, attraction signs, mileage/distance signs, township/city/county border signs, deer crossing signs, trail crossing signs, tank crossing signs (Camp Grayling does exercises on state land) etc.
