We're currently in NC. Not sure if it's a statewide phenomenon, but it's at least across 3 counties. EVERY bridge, even those over a tiny dry wash (and there are a lot of them)is named and signed, such as, "Emmett P. Whatshisface Bridge". Who knows what those signs cost and where the funds come from. I'd bet on at least a couple hundred each to produce and place.
