slop

When checking the front end steering for slop do you have to have it jacked up off the ground or can it be done with the wheels on the ground. Is it just a matter of someone turning the wheel while someone else examines the parts and what do I look for.

Ok,Thanks for the info. The moho is a chevorolet p30 chassis. Can the idler arms be checked on the ground.I know from the Henderson supersteer sight you have to check them with the motor running and use the power steering to check because everything sets on them.I would like to check this stuff myself so I can skip this step at the shop and save some money.
  • We just had the opposite problem with real stiff steering on our Jeep. It was a loose serpentine belt. Adjusted it and steering back to normal. Learned a lot just doing google search with our symptoms and what to check for and how to test things.
