I've seen this time and time again when trying to use wood boards and they flip and cause damage. I stopped using boards years ago.

Here is a product I picked that has worked several times for me and other fellow RV'ers while at sporting events when parked on grass. Usually come morning with a heavy dew or rain many of the Rv'ers had problems getting out.

Compact easy to store and works. It really grabs the tire to get it rolling.

How big of a hole did you dig? If the pumpkin or any part of the frame is down on the ground your only option is a friend with a tow strap or start jacking. Once the weight of the vehicle is off the wheels you are done until you get something under the wheels.

I just installed 4 Cooper A/T tires on my Pickup due to so much rain and no traction and -or the tires loading up with mud (like racing slicks then)Lot better since then, I can go just about anywhere.

If the ground is saturated and the trailer is sinking in it, widening the trailer's foot print will allow it to float better over the soft ground. This is commonly done when pulling trailers over sand and makes a noticeable difference.

If you're still hooked to the trailer and the rear wheels on the truck are dug in, I would first disconnect the trailer. If you still can't get out, try letting some air out of the rear tires. A neighbor suggested this to me and it worked. I see no advantage in letting the air out of the trailer tires.
When you get the truck out, fill in the ruts, wait for a dry day, preferably in the afternoon and try again.

And that is why I always buy a truck that has high and low speed 4x4.

Better to have it and not need it, that to need it and not have it.

1. Carpet scraps work well for traction and weigh less than horse stall mats. I have snow tracks that I can lay down for additional traction if needed.
2. If the trailer has sunk into the ground, jack it up and put boards or gravel under the wheels.
3. Decreasing truck and trailer tire pressure until on hard ground will help keep it on top of soft ground.
4. Do not use WD until the trailer is on hard ground so you maximize traction on your drive wheels.

Good suggestions all; I like the horse mat one.

BUT.....if there really is a HOLE (or holes) now, you need to think about your technique for when the thing stops moving. As in STOP SPINNING THE WHEELS.

A small depression is MUCH easier to deal with than a hole. Backing up and taking another run at it might have helped. This also gives you a chance to inspect the trailers wheels to see if THEY are sinking in too.

Minor correction but two of them give you either an 8 ft. x 6 ft. or a 4 ft. x 12 ft., it takes four to make a 8 ft. X 12 ft.
