Here's my thoughts:
Yes, a foam mattress can be immersed in water. My elderly, diabetic dog leaks urine when he sleeps - I bring the foam insert in his dog bed into the shower and wash it by letting it soak and then stepping on it. But you can also buy a new foam mattress pretty easily - look for thick mattress toppers from Penney's, Walmart, etc and cut them to fit.
However - it's also possible that the rabbits were loose in the RV, and their urine can really STINK (it's very concentrated). The easiest way to find urine spots is with a Black (ultraviolet) Light. You can buy an ultraviolet flashlight from Amazon for $10 or so - after dark, turn off the lights and shine the flashlight around the RV on the floor and furniture. Any urine will glow blue-ish white. What I have done, is sprinkle baking soda on any spots I find, so that once the lights are turned back on, I know where they are. Then rent a Rug Doctor with furniture attachment and clean where necessary.
And after your RV smells "fresh" again (do NOT use ozone - it destroys rubber and vinyl and fades fabric) - you might mention politely to your friend that her son needs to see a Dr about the bedwetting. I too had a problem as a preteen with bedwetting; and it was only later as an adult, that it was discovered that I have a birth defect/spinal deformity called spondylolisthesis that probably caused loss-of-sensation from my bladder when I was sleeping. Now that we Baby Boomers are getting to be a certain age, there are plenty of products like Depends that would at least protect where this young man sleeps until his body matures enough to stop the problem.
As the old saying goes "No good deed goes unpunished" - I guess be glad the rabbits didn't chew through a wire and set the RV on fire....
