It might not have been the kid it could have been the rabbits that peed on the mattress, rabbit pee really stinks my parents had a pet rabbit and when she got scared she would pee and take off, that smell is potent, unless it is human urine, but my bet is that you need to replace the mattress, rabbit pee smell will not be taken out from the mattress ever.
