Splendide 2000 Washer/dryer leak at dryer vent

We have a Splendide model 2000 vented washer/dryer combo.

It has been working just fine until recently when we found a leak.

The mobile tech thought it was the water pump and replaced it. We think we also have another leak as it is still leaking.

We have traced the new leak to the back of the dryer vent, by where it attaches to the machine.

I Googled this problem and found something that mentioned a solenoid problem, but there was no more info on that.

I called Splendide and left a message on their voice mail. No response yet.

I emailed and have had no response yet.

The website is not actually Splendide. It's Westland sales, I think.

Anybody have any ideas of what is wrong. I've had the mobile rv tech out 3 times and am trying to do a little research on my own before I call him back.

thanks
  • Sorry, misspelled word, "pulled" should be "plugged."
  • Before you go out and buy a new machine or part, have someone help you pull your machine out to where you can remove the vent hose from the back of the machine. If it is pulled with lint (like mine was)you may find that the moisture is collecting at the plugged area. You will have to get it all the way out and remove a cover from the back to get to the vent hose.
  • In the mean time, check eBay and other supply houses. You never know what you will find.
  • OP here.

I got a call back from a tech at Splendide.

He feels certain it is a broken water valve. The bad news is if it is the cold water valve, they do not have the part anymore and it is obsolete.

He suggested we either buy a new machine, or reverse the hot and cold water valves and use only cold water to wash.

That is probably what we will do for now because we just put in a new water pump.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Evidently the broken water valve was leaking water onto the dryer vent.
  • I had a leak and decided after 13 years it is time to upgrade. Purchased a new Splendide, no leaks and very happy.
  • I don't have any idea of why or how water could leak from the dryer vent unless perhaps the water isn't draining completely and the spin cycle can't remove the bulk of the water. Then the drying effect carries a lot more moisture to the vent and outside.
Does the vent outside have any sign of excessive moisture????
Keep us advised as to the solution.
BTW: I'm surprised that you haven't heard back from Splendid...they have the best reputation of any vendor for customer support. They have even called me back the next day to see if their suggestion for a fix worked.
  • Westland techs who answer the phone are really good at what they do and will be able to help. Unlike many other businesses, they really are techs... not just phone support people.
