storing propane canister under fifth-wheel

Is it in a confined space? I have my propane and batteries in the front compartment but the batteries are vent and so is the compartment You may be over thinking this.

You are worried about something that won't happen.

If you want to feel better about it, have a small fan added to move more air through the compartment. You could also put a divider in the compartment, or get an airtight box for the propane cylinders.

I've never heard of a battery sparking while in normal use. The sparks happen when being connected/disconnected or jumped.

Also do a leak-check on your propane cylinders if you are concerned they are in bad condition.

My propane, batteries, solar controller, transfer switch, inverter are all in the front compartment together.
But then mine is not sealed very well either. I figure that door will just blast open if there is an issue.

The litte bbq grill bottles? I wouldn't worry about it.

I've been dragging those 1 pound non-reusable propane bottles around for the last 20 years and never had one leak, or go bad or anything.

I had so many at one time, I decided to give a bunch away at a campground once. So I did. I still carried 4 of them for years after that.

Then, I finally found a new use for them. They work absolutely great for propane torches. I carry one of these in the camper all the time for starting camp fires. We also have one in the house for starting fifes in the fire place, and I keep one in our shed to use on our outside fire pit.

The propane torches are self-sparking, so no need for matches, and they blast a torch that will ignite just about anything. Well, when my last bottle emptied, I decided to try one of those one pound propane bottles (since we were camping and didn't have a replacement for the torch), and it worked VERY, VERY well. I don't think it would cut a 3 inch thick steel safe open, but it gives a GREAT blast of fire for starting a camp fire.

I think you are OK traveling with those one pound tanks. But, if they trouble you that much, as small as they are, couldn't you find a different location away from the battery?

I'm glad the OP asked this question. I've always kinds sorta wondered about it myself, cuz that's where I carry mine also.

The batteries offgas hydrogen when charging so the potential for flammable gas in the battery compartment is already there. Adding the 14oz propane bottles doesn't change or hurt anything.

I thought I was reasonably versed in things RV. Please treat me as ignorant and help me understand:

What is MAP (not familiar with this abbreviation)... and how does it relate to propane in the context of the OP's question and why do we need to proceed with CAUTION.
