Strange emergency vehicle lights, can you ID?
Mid-morning last Thursday in CA on northbound Hwy 101 well north of Paso Robles the traffic was light. In my car I was doing 70+ in a 65, there was no one for a good mile in front of me and I had just gone past a couple of trucks and a CHP Tahoe pulling a small trailer who were all going 60+ in a 55. I did not have time to pull back to the right and no one had been behind me in the left lane a brief time before when here is a guy so close to my bumper I could only see part of the hood. On the dash in the middle of the windshield was an 8-10” round blue light with a flashing red triangle large enough to touch the edge of the blue circle. I took the hint and pulled right and saw 3 white nondescript 4 door sedans rental agencies laughingly call a premium car with no markings fly by in tight formation. I thought this to be a bit strange as they had the standard civilian license tags but white rear strobe lights embedded in the tail lights. Five minutes later I saw a car with flashing alternating headlights approaching fast and the same blue circle/red triangle flashing. I knew they weren't coming for me so I bumped the speed to 80 and watched three more plain white vehicles fly by in tight formation at 90+. This time it was 2 Chevy Impalas and an older small Ford minivan with strobe lights in the tail lights. All had anonymous normal civilian plates. What a great job these people have where they can blast down the road and blow people out of their way without fear of being pulled over. My questions are who are these stealth people, what agency do they work for which we are paying for and what are they protecting us from? Or what agency do they work for that we need to protect ourselves from because behavior like this on the open road can be a danger to the RV community? There is nothing on Google that I can find on this shape of emergency lighting. Thanks.
