Propane heaters work fine and are generally safe. However, I'm also a little leery of sleeping while it's running. A typical RV furnace will run just fine from battery power. However (again), one battery may not last an entire night, unless you are frugal with lights, water pump, stereo, etc. An easy alternative to a generator would be to keep your tow vehicle plugged into the trailer and run the engine for a while. That would also be much quieter than that cheap Harbor Freight generator mentioned before.
